People watch leaders. They watch what they do, and try to determine meaning from their leaders’ actions.
Why leave it up to chance when you could choreograph a successful routine that engages your team, ignites trust, and motivates performance?
Dreaming of moves like Jagger? Here are a few things to consider when strategizing your performance:
1. Examine your moves in the moment
Jagger has confidence in his posture. Do you? How do you walk and talk? What is your executive presence? He also connects with the audience. How do you connect with your team? Jagger is serious about his work, his singing, but he doesn’t take himself too seriously. Where are you inviting engagement through recognition and celebration?
2. Build your choreo throughout the year
What are your moves in terms of setting and rewarding performance expectations? Are you predictable? Good choreo has solid basics with some moments of delight. Do your basics with predictability, confidence, and passion. Set clear goals with conviction, align all your moves and initiatives during the year, and delight employees with recognition. Do not stumble over other leaders or dancers, and do not send one troupe to collide with another.
Just like rockstars, choreographing your leadership strategy will keep you inspired, connect you to your audience and deliver sold out arena results.
As an executive coach, I assist my clients in designing leadership moves that are both foundational and dynamic.
Is it time to get your moves together?
